In Father Tongue I started with recording the audio from a fifteen minute period of numerous attempts to recite the Arabic alphabet. The visual component was then added to the audio to demonstrate how well I did. Everytime a letter is heard a red circle appears around it. When there is silence the screen turns black.
Sing Along is a video compilation of the highlights from a tiresome, frustrating and lengthy attempt at learning a song as I listen to it.
And Reading Arabic is another video where I started with an audio recording of me reading a sports news article. The visual component was subsequently added where the difficulties and errors are highlighted. Alongside the translating subtitles there is a narrative of frustration. |
